I think Diogenes the Cynic used this tactic in c. 350 BC. There's lots about him online but I recommend the discussion of him in How to Do Nothing by Jenny Odell.
Very cool! I've always liked Diogenes, and have been low-key looking for where read more about him than his Wikipedia page offers. I might check out that book.
(You're probably right, it seems unlikely Jesus was literally the first to implement this in any form)
