Last week I talked a lot about the effects of pain on our thinking.
I’ve been playing with the term Truthloving because terms like sensemaking or rationalism emphasize the mind, while the majority of the challenge seems to lie in the will.
Truthloving sounds like a commitment to embracing pain for truth’s sake.
You can’t love someone if you’re unwilling to feel pain on behalf of their wellbeing. Similarly, you can’t love truth if you’re unwilling to feel the pain of being changed by a new idea.
We have to practice loving truth more, not being smarter.
If you’re new, here are some good places to get started:
"loving truth more, not being smarter."
This is a good line.
Your short posts are really easy to consume in my email app. I think I'll play with making my own posts short.
Well said Mike. Thanks for writing.
