Our ability to care about stuff is limited. This is pretty self-evident, right?
You can’t care about everything.
That means everything we care about competes with everything else. Caring is like spending money — every time you buy something, you decide to forego buying something else. Same with caring about something.
Here’s why that matters:
We all care about truth — but we all care about other things too.
And everything we care about that isn’t truth, competes with our ability to care about truth.
